The Daily Grind: The Queen's Kickshaw

The Queen's Kickshaw is worth the trip from NYC to Queens.  Their grilled cheese sandwiches are out of this world.  I went last year with my sister.  We planned on just grabbing coffee to go, and heading back into the city to meet my parents for dinner.  But, the review on The Scoop App by The New York Times noted their complicated grilled cheese sandwiches, so it sounded worth a shot.  We had been walking around Astoria and it was time for a snack anyway.  We split the Gouda grilled cheese sandwich (black bean hummus, guava jam, pickled jalapenos, green salad with jalapeño vinaigrette).  It was so good we wished we got two!

My sister went back again this year and brought a friend.  Here are pictures from our meal.

The Queens Kickshaw brews Counter Culture coffee.

It was late in the day, but we ordered brunch.  The brunch menu is served until 5:00 pm.  We were a bit disappointed that the full grilled cheese menu didn't come out until dinner time.  We found the brunch menu actually has a few grilled cheese sandwiches on it and were able to try some new ones.

The price fix was fun to try.  It came with a hot cup of coffee. Yum!

AND we had some delightful cocktails while we were at it.  A coffee shops with cocktails, beer and wine is always a good one in my book. :)

We had a great time chatting over brunch.  Everyone enjoyed their grilled cheese, and wanted to come back again for more.
