NYC: Wave Hill

Last spring my friends and I went to Wave Hill to see their light show.  We had seen it on Gilt City and thought it sounded fun.  We took the subway up to the last stop on the one train, then waited for the free shuttle to Wave Hill.  The shuttle and event was very popular.  We had to wait for a second shuttle before going over to Wave Hill, because the first one filled up.  The 50-60 min commute up to Wave Hill was worth it!  The grounds are absolutely stunning.  It was a beautiful clear night with warm weather.  We walked the grounds and gardens before dark, then headed over to the Aquatic Garden to watch the light art installation as it became darker outside. After the light show we headed over to the main how, and had a beer on the porch while chatting and watching the sunset.  I've been dreaming of going back ever since.  So beautiful!

MoMA: A Strange New Beauty

I love attending member events at MoMA.  They are always a good time.  Recently, I went to see the new Edgar Degas, A Strange New Beauty exhibit with a friend.  We arrived around 7:00 and decided to walk though the exhibit before it was too crowded.

Here you can see MoMA gearing up for the anticipated lines into the exhibit.

In different rooms of the exhibit there were magnifiers for getting a closer look at the artist's brush strokes.  They were fun to use.  I thought it was a nice interactive element to the exhibit.

Love the blue-green color is the painting below.  Degas' classic ballerina paintings were gorgeous.

The first floor of the museum was setup so that visitors could enjoy a drink and chat before/after seeing the exhibit, and that's exactly what we did!  It was great, because we had a lot of talking to do for planning our upcoming trip to Las Vegas for another friend's bachelorette party.
